About 6 months ago or so... our church had prayer and fasting for 3 days. Everyone at the church would write a prayer request on a note card they handed out, and for those 3 days we would pray and fast for every ones need. The notes were set on the front of the church and in those 3 days the church is open for anyone to go and pick any note card up and pray for that persons request. That day they handed the prayer request cards out my mom & dad came to our service (they attended a different church in Spanish on Sundays). I looked at my moms request and one of her prayer requests was that Elizabeth (my sister) would finally find her husband.
Elizabeth is 29, we are 3 years and 3 months apart. Elizabeth was always the dreamer, she always dreamed about her prince charming and was into every princess/romantic movie there was. Out of all our girl cousins we always thought and said that Elizabeth was going to be the first to marry. Oh, how wrong we were! Everyone got married before she did, even me the youngest of our age group girl cousins. It was a little hard on my sister seeing her younger sister getting married before her, and seeing me start a family and watching my two beautiful daughters grow. Elizabeth never really showed her feelings as much, but deep inside of her she was hurting and yearning to find that one man to spend the rest of her life with and to start a family. During this time of waiting I believe God wanted to be her prince first before she found the one she would spend the rest of her life with. God has the perfect timing for EVERYTHING, for whatever He does is perfect. Ecclesiastes 3:11 "He has made everything beautiful in its time." Elizabeth has a tremendous heart for God, she seeks Him at all times, thanks Him at all times and praises Him at all times. She waited patiently on the Lord for Him to send her her husband. James 1:4 says, "Let patience have its perfect work." Lamentations 3:25 "The Lord is good to those who's hope is in him." Psalm 37:7 "Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act." We are human and sometimes there would be days were she would break down and be sad asking God when and if she would ever get married (I know this, because she would tell me). I know she is not that old compare to other people that get married at a later age, but for her seeing her younger sister do these things before her and our cousins, it would just sadden her heart at times.
After the fasting was over about a month later or so, she seen a guy that she went to high school with (Hugo), which they actually went on a date when Elizabeth was 18, 11 years ago (that's another post in it self!)! Long story short, they felt this deep connection towards one another and felt God has placed them together (for the long haul this time lol) and TODAY he proposed to her!!!! They are already talking about a June wedding!! Hugo is in incredible man, he has an amazing humble, carrying, and loving heart. Best of all, seeks to know more of our amazing God!
Praise God!! Talk about the power of prayer and fasting!!! Nothing is too big or too small for our heavenly father! He is such a loving, powerful God! He loves all of us so much and wants nothing but the best for his children, we just have to give him our hearts and follow Him, and trust in Him, and BELIEVE! Psalms 37:4 " Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart."
